Make sure you’re eating substantial meals, which are packed full of healthy fiber and that you are drinking plenty of water.  You should be drinking at least six to ten glasses of water a day.  Avoid stimulants, such as soda, coffee and other caffeine.  Never wait to go to the bathroom!  If you feel like you have to pass a stool, go immediately to the bathroom and do your business!
