Sometimes, by signing up with one of these colon cleansing trials, you are also signing up for other weight loss trials and will end up with your name on several lists.  People typically do not realize their blunder until they get their credit card statement in the mail.

A tip if you are trying to opt out of a list for one of these trials is to make sure you ask a lot of questions when you speak to the customer service representative.  Sometimes they will tell you some of the information, but not enough of the information to really get you off the automatic shipment list.  For example, I tried one trial where I was told I needed to send back the empty trial bottle in order to opt out of the list.  When I asked them for the address to send the trial bottle to, it was completely different than any address that had been included in the paperwork or with my shipment.  I was still unable to get a refund for the $80-something that I had been charged.

Your best bet is to speak to a health care store representative who knows about the product(s) they are selling.  Explain to him or her that you are wanting a good quality colon cleanser and ask if they can recommend something.  The good news is that you won’t be signing up for any online scams and you can most likely return the product for a refund if it does not work or you have a bad reaction to it.  Shop smart and buy locally and you should be okay with your purchase!

Psyllium Husk Powder

The Psyllium seed is a tiny gel coated reddish brown seed that is tasteless and odorless.

Psyllium is most often produced as a bulk-fiber based laxative for foods or fiber supplements. Psyllium is rich in soluble fiber, so it is usually used for laxatives for constipation.  It is also used for colon cleansing, diarrhea, weight loss and the reduction of hemorrhoids.

Psyllium husk can be used as a colon cleanser.  Colon cleansing has become a very popular procedure.  It has been shown to improve overall health.  It is used to cleanse the colon of excess waste that accumulates within the colon over a period of time.  If you do not get rid of the toxins within the colon, they can build up and cause illness.

As relates to psyllium, it helps increase the transit time in your colon.  This transit time is the time it takes for the food to move through your colon once it is ingested.  Psyllium has a bulking effect, in which it absorbs water. This helps to line the colon with a slippery film, increase contractions in the bowels and absorb toxins.  The combination of these items can help the bowels move easily and quickly through your colon.  When the bowels are able to move quickly, they can effectively cleanse your colon thoroughly.

In further detail, the Psyllium absorbs water like a sponge.  This sponge absorbs toxic substances off the wall of your colon.  When the sponge is eliminated from your system, it removes all the toxins with it.

As a side note, Psyllium can also be used to relieve constipation.  As explained above, psyllium is a bulk forming fiber, it absorbs water, swells and forms a slippery film.  This allows two things to happen.  It can create a softer bowel movement and stimulate contractions of the lower bowel. The contractions force you to have more frequent bowel movements.

You can also use Psyllium to alleviate diarrhea.  Surprisingly, the same effect for constipation can help with diarrhea.  The Psyllium absorbs the water, which creates a firm bowel movement, instead of diarrhea.

The husks are used whole in their natural state.  They can be dried and chopped or powdered for easier consumption.  In any of these forms, one takes them by mixing them with water or another fluid.  You can also purchase capsules.  Additionally, many over the counter laxatives and fiber supplements, such as Metamucil, may have Psyllium as their main ingredient.   One warning when using Psyllium is to take it with plenty of water and take it between meals, never immediately before or immediately after, as it may interfere with your digestion.

Tea with Ginger and Lemon Half

There are many kinds of at home colon cleansers.  You can make a natural cleansing diet, just by eating better.  A diet high in fiber with limited sugar and limited processed food can provide a healthy colon.

However, there are many at home remedies that can also cleanse your colon.

One of the easiest at home cleansers is an enema.  An enema forces liquids into the anus, then to the bowel and the colon, which provokes the bowel to release all feces.

To make an enema, you can use purified water.  This should be water that is around 105 degrees, a little warmer than body temperature.  You can also use a soap mixture, which would be water mixed with a soap mixture.  This soap can be any mild bath soap.  You may also at salt to the solution, which helps with the transfer of the water smoothly out of the colon.  The only item you would have to purchase to make an enema is some sort of mechanism to release it into your body.  This could include an enema back and nozzle or an at-home kit.

A simple at home remedy is herbal colon cleanser tea.  To make this tea, you should begin by boiling water.  When the water starts bubbling, you will add 2 cloves and crushed ginger, approximately 2 tsp.  Once you have added the ingredients, let it simmer for about 3 minutes. Next, add holy basil leaves, about 5 or 6 and mint leaves about 3 or 4.  Let this simmer for about 5 minutes more.

At this point, the water will have turned brownish and you can take it off the burner.  You should let the tea cool and then add about 1 tbsp of lemon juice.  Drink it while it is lukewarm. To get the best results, you should drink this tea mixture for about a month.

Finally, another at home remedy is a similar colon cleansing drink.  To make this mix you will take an equal amount of White Sultana Raisins, Senna and Rose Hips extract about 200 grams.  To begin, you should steam the White Sultana Raisins in 1 liter of water and do the same with the Senna.  This should simmer for about a ½ hour and then filter those liquids.  Once the liquids have been mixed and settle, you will mix both liquids in a 2.5 liter bottle.  At this point, you will add Rose Hips Extract into the container.  Next you will boil water and add it to your bottled mixture.  Let the mixture cool.  You should store it in a dry and cool place away from sunlight. For effective colon cleansing, you should drink 100 ml of this mixture daily every evening for about 16 days.

You should consult a physician before using any at home remedies to make sure it is safe and the most effective method for you.
