Intestinal parasites are very common, but can cause severe intestinal distress. The parasites actually burrow into the body and can perforate the intestines and organs.

Parasites can burrow into the intestines, causing serious consequences. The troubles begin when the parasite worms squirm their way into the body. The parasites burrow in, fooling the body and the immune system into thinking they are a regular part of the body tissue or organs. When this happens, the immune system will not fight off these intruders.

Washing Hands at the Kitchen Sink

As the parasites burrow within the body, they cause extensive problems.

First, they start to eat away at the organs. As an analogy, they can make a Swiss cheese like effect out of your organs meaning causing holes throughout. These holes can cause physical trauma in the form of perforating the intestines, the circulatory system, the lungs, the liver or the whole body.

Second, the parasites erode, damage or block organs by lumping together in balls or tumors. These lumps can be mistaken for cancer tumors. Additionally, they can travel into the brain, heart and lungs creating serious discomfort and problems.

Next, the parasites remove vital vitamin and mineral nutrients, and amino acids needed for digestion. When this happens, you can become anemic, become drowsy after meals and have difficulties with digestion.

These parasites are actually living, breeding and sometimes dying within our bodies. Because of this they leave metabolic waste products or toxic waste that can poison our bodies. This condition is called verminous intoxification. These toxins can be re-absorbed into the intestines causing severe pain and distress. Additionally, your immune system has to work twice as hard to remove these toxic waste products.

As your immune system continues to work harder, the body becomes tired and rundown and you may be susceptible to more illnesses, such as the common flu or cold.

One such parasite is an amoeba, which is an irregular shaped microorganism that infects the end of the smaller intestine and colon. This amoeba releases an enzyme that causes ulcers or abscesses where they can enter the bloodstream. They can eventually reach other organs like the brain or liver. With an ulcer or abscess, you will experience severe pain, including severe digestion problems and severe stomach ailments.

To prevent yourself from parasites, you can make very small changes to your lifestyle. First, you should always wash your hands. This is the easiest way to prevent parasite transmissions. Second, keep your kitchen area clean. You should thoroughly was all fruits and vegetables. You should clean the kitchen and utensils thoroughly. Third, you can drink pure water, especially if in a foreign country, sticking with bottled water is best. Fourth, keep your house clean. Dust mites live throughout your entire house, mostly in carpeted areas. Additionally, as they are living there they are breeding there and leaving fecal matter there. The best option is hard wood floors; however, as that is not feasible, the next best option is cleaning.

Candida can begin as a simple yeast infection, but can lead to a serious illness or condition. Candida can become an overgrowth very easily, as sometimes it is hard to diagnose.

Candida can be very difficult to diagnose. You may experience many different symptoms, which could be attributed to something else. If you have a missed diagnosis, you may have an overgrowth of yeast.

Candida can cause serious problems if it is not taken care of.

Candida bacteria can lead to an overgrowth, which leads to many health problems. Candida can decompose the cell membranes within your body. In turn, this can weaken your immune system, which creates problems for your general health.

A long term infestation of yeast, can allow the fungus to develop roots and actually implant into the intestinal wall. This can develop into a yeast syndrome affecting all of the body’s systems. Some of these problems include:

Acne or psoriasis

Allergies

Diabetes

Digestive disorders including weight gain, gas, bloating, colitis

Ear infections

Emotional upsets and depression

Energy imbalances or insomnia

Hormonal problems

Hyperactivity/Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)

Hypoglycemia

Hypothyroidism

Lung problems

Obesity

Pollen allergies

Reproductive organ disorders

Sensitivities to foods, chemicals, and/or molds

Susceptibility to viruses, bacterial, and other infections

Thyroid

It has also been studied and believed that a Candida overgrowth can lead to the onset of chronic illnesses such as chronic fatigue symptom, fibromyalgia, Epstein-Barr virus, lupus, multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer’s, Crohn’s disease, arthritis, cancer, and autism.

Candida can make your regular condition worse. Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a bowel disorder of the gastrointestinal tract, in which you have recurrent abdominal pain and discomfort. Candida will take advantaged or your weakened system. The yeast ferments in your intestines, causing gas and irritations of the stomach lining.

Candida can be responsible for chronic sinusitis. Sinusitis is an inflammation of the membranes of the nose and sinuses. This inflammation can be caused by fungus and molds that we breathe in. In a study by the Mayo Clinic, it showed that individuals with sinusitis may have 40 different kinds of fungus in their nasal passages.

There are some studies that show a link of autism with Candida. Some of the behavior problems which have been linked to an overgrowth of Candida albicans include: confusion, hyperactivity, short attention span, lethargy, irritability, and aggression. These are also similar symptoms to autism and attention-deficit disorder.

Thrush is a Candida yeast overgrowth that occurs in your mouth. If you have thrush, you may also have bloating, skin rashes, genital rashes or signs of an infection. A common sign of thrush is a creamy, white substance or lesions on your tongue or inner cheeks. You may develop lesions on the roof of your mouth, tonsils or back of your throat. These lesions may lead to pain and problems swallowing. To treat thrush, you will be given an antifungal medication.

The immune system is the body’s defense system against germs and infections. If you contract parasites, your immune system has to step up and fight these parasites and eliminate them from your body.

The immune system is very powerful. It protects your body from germs parasites, bacteria and viruses. When you get a parasite or virus, your immune system fights to eliminate it and make you feel better.

Woman Washing Her Hands

A parasite is an organism that enters your body and lives and feeds on your body.

Parasites can enter your body in many different ways. You can drink or eat contaminated foods. You can become infected from your pets. Your children can become infected by their day care centers or schools. The World Health Organization reports that parasites are among the sixth most harmful infectious diseases.

So although parasites are an organism, they can take the form of worms, viruses, bacteria or fungi. The first step in protecting yourself is by keeping germs and parasites from even entering the body. Your skin is actually part of your immune system. Your skin acts as a barrier and usually will keep out bacteria and germs. Additionally, you can assist in this barrier by constantly keeping your hand washed and not touching your eyes, nose and mouth when your hands are dirty or possibly contaminated.

When the parasites enter your body, your immune system has many additional functions. These include:

Trying to detect the parasite and eliminate it from your body before it can reproduce in your body

Fighting illness caused by the parasites and eliminating it.

While eliminating bacteria and parasites, your immune system is also able to distinguish good bacteria from bad bacteria.

So now that you know what happens when you get parasites, you may wonder how you contacted them and how you can avoid them the next time. As relates to the immune system, one of the causes for being susceptible to parasites is if you are immune compromised; immune compromised means that due to some other condition, such as another illness like HIV, your immune system does not work as well as a healthy individual. Some other causes of parasite transmission include:

Living in or visiting an area known to have parasites

International travel

Poor sanitation in your living area

Poor hygiene

Age — children and the elderly are more likely to get infected

Exposure to child and institutional care centers

Immune-compromised

HIV or AIDS

Along with parasites, your immune system is responsible for helping you recover from the flu or another virus, such as the chicken pox. The immune system also helps fight cancer cells from developing, as the cells start small and can develop into cancerous cells. On the minor side, your immune system also will help with healing if you have a cut or scrape in which some foreign substance enters into your body. Your immune system is very important and is constantly working.

The immune system is your first defense against illnesses, viruses and bacteria. However, in fighting some of these conditions, you will take antibiotics. These antibiotics can lead to a yeast overgrowth. There is a vicious cycle of taking medications to make you better, but then counteracting the medications to get rid of the yeast.

First, it is important to understand what the immune system is. The immune system is of vital importance. It is a protection mechanism that defends your body against viruses, toxins and parasites. The immune system actually attacks organisms and substances that invade our body and causes disease. The immune system is made up of cells, tissues and organs working together.

Candida can weaken the gastrointestinal tract and make it more susceptible to other infections. An immune system already undermined by other factors such as poor nutrition or environmental pollutants will be unable effectively to deter this yeast growth. When this occurs, Candida will effectively weaken and disturb the immune system so that further damage may occur.

When your immune system is strong, Candida yeasts do not pose any problems. However, if you take broad-spectrum antibiotics, the good bacteria that prevent fungal infections from developing are knocked out. The Candida yeasts are not affected, so they multiply and put out toxins that further weaken the immune system. Consequently, you may experience repeated infections, and these infections may be treated with another round of antibiotics, encouraging further growth of Candida. It appears to be a vicious circle.

In the intestinal tract, there is Candida, which tries to invade the intestinal wall. When this occurs, the immune system responds with inflammation. This creates a problem because Candida suppresses the immune system’s offensive weapons, so the Candida stays and the inflammation is prolonged.

The prolonged inflammation creates its own set of digestive problems. This prolonged inflammation is called ulcerative colitis if it occurs in the large intestine and it is called Crohn’s disease if it occurs in the small intestine. These disorders are prolonged inflammation resulting from the immune system’s inability to clear Candida.

For example as to how a yeast condition can grow and cause problems, in ulcerative colitis, there is painful inflammation of the intestine rather than regulated containment. As the body fights the yeast in the intestine, some of the cells fighting the yeast circulate and come into contact with yeast on the skin and start an inflammation there, which can lead to additional skin disorders.

As your immune system is the most important thing to preventing illnesses, you should do whatever you can to keep it healthy. To boost your resilience, you can do many at home things. First as with many conditions, eating a healthy diet helps with your immune system. As we have discussed on many occasion, a high fat and high sugar diet can cause an overgrowth of yeast. It can also create excess weight, both of which would lower your immune system.

Another suggestion to build your immune system is to take vitamins. These can include simply a multi-vitamin to ensure your body maintains all essential vitamins you might not be getting from your food. Finally, reduce stress levels. High stress can lead to a lowered immune system.
